Dr Anna Kukula, PhD, relocated to Jersey in 2017, where she served as Head of the Dermatology Department at Jersey General Hospital until the end of 2024. During her tenure, she also chaired the Skin Cancer Multidisciplinary Team, significantly enhancing the early detection of melanoma within the island.
Prior to her appointment in Jersey, Dr Kukula honed her expertise as a Consultant Dermatologist at esteemed London institutions, including St John’s Institute of Dermatology at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, the Royal Free NHS Trust, and the private Skin Care Network in Barnet.
Following in the footsteps of her mother, a distinguished dermatologist with over 40 years of experience, Dr Kukula’s dedication to research culminated in the completion of her PhD in Medicine, focusing on autoimmune diseases.
Dr Kukula holds memberships with the British Association of Dermatologists, the Royal Society of Medicine, the American Academy of Dermatology, and the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology. Her expertise is evidenced by her contributions to medical textbooks and publications in peer-reviewed international journals.
With over 30 years of experience in dermatology, Dr Kukula brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Jersey. She specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of skin, hair, and nail conditions, including:
- Skin cancers and pre-cancerous lesions (e.g., Actinic Keratosis, Bowen’s Disease)
- Acne resistant to topical treatments
- Psoriasis
- Eczema and skin allergies
- Autoimmune skin diseases
- Hair Loss
Dr Kukula possesses a particular interest in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers. She received training in dermatoscopy and skin cancers at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. In 2019, Dr Kukula introduced the state-of-the-art AI-powered FotoFinder Master total body mole mapping system to Jersey, advancing the early detection of skin cancers.
Dr Kukula recently established Rapid Access Clinics to facilitate the prompt assessment of patients with concerns regarding skin cancer.
